The History of Palazzo Guglielmo
The age when the palace was built is uncertain.
According to the historical events, the Rossi family from Naples seems to be the first owner, to whom it had been entrusted a part of the shire of Castro, including Vignacastrisi.
At that time, the offices and the warehouses were located on the ground floor, where oil, wine and foodstuffs from harvests were preserved.
The present breakfast room was a big stable for horses, and a large number of hutches for rabbits and hens crowded the area of the garden where there is now the swimming pool.
The oldest rooms – welcoming guests now – were used as kitchen and laundry: housewives laundered with hot water and ash, and made cheese with just milked milk. The Guglielmo family lived on the rooms on the first floor.
The dwelling, enlarged and rebuilt over the years, was the focus for people of Vignacastrisi, besides representing the heart of the slow but laborious economic growth of this small village.
